Blue Cherry Online Marketing – Monthly News Round Up – July 2015
Each month we present a snapshot of news across our industry affecting SEO, SEM and social media. Check out the latest news stories and opinion pieces which we think are important to both us and our clients.
July saw the long awaiting Panda refresh from Google, and SEM Rush has a great round up of everything you need to know about this update.
Google has launched a new option for users to buy items directly from a Google-hosted page. This is still in the experimental stage with a few select major retailers trialling this new shopping feature and no doubt is it US only for the moment, but watch this space Australia!
Sad news if you ever used this tool in your digital marketing! The autocomplete tool which predicts what query you are typing into the Google search bar is going to be switched off from 10 August.
Dr Pete once again has shared some awesome data with us, the Moz Online Marketing Industry Survey results for 2015, which actually has around 18 months’ worth of data in it. Fascinating stuff (although I am slightly surprised that so many respondants have no idea what link removal is!).
The relatively new featured snippets (where Google provides the user with an answer box instead of simply URLs to visit) could mean that websites are losing traffic with the answer they want being presented without ever needing to click through to a site. Glenn Gabe looks at how you can find out if your site is being used as a featured snippet – interesting stuff while we wait for this information to become available in the Search Console.
This is a great one for any business that is managing their own social media and is not completely up to speed on all the awesome features available on each channel. Find out how to tag photos on Twitter without it counting towards your character limit, contact people on LinkedIn that you aren’t connected to and much more.
This one had the SEO world in stitches this month…Google hiring an SEO to improve its rankings? This one has to be seen to be believed!
